Framework for the Rapid Evaluation of Modeling Methodologies

Abstract

The paper presents a framework that enables the rapid evaluation of different modeling methodologies. The toolset utilizes UML class diagram-based metamodels for the specification of the target modeling language. It employs OCL constraints to ensure the well-formedness of models in the target environment. It supports the rapid design of modeling paradigms enabling immediate hands-on experience with the language. It supports an iterative design method of modeling methodologies; users can quickly evolve their language design by iteratively modifying the corresponding metamodel. Because of the ease and speed of creating domain -specific modeling tools, the framework enables comparative analysis of different modeling methodologies in a single tool environment.
