Abstract. We study the properties of spectrum and eigenstates of the Google matrix of a directed network formed by the procedure calls in the Linux Kernel. Our results obtained for various versions of the Linux Kernel show that the spectrum is characterized by the fractal Weyl law established recently for systems of quantum chaotic scattering and the Perron-Frobenius operators of dynamical maps. The fractal Weyl exponent is found to be ν≈ 0.65 that corresponds to the fractal dimension of the…

Fractal Weyl law for open quantum chaotic maps
We study the semiclassical quantization of Poincar\'e maps arising in scattering problems with fractal hyperbolic trapped sets. The main application is the proof of a fractal Weyl upper bound for the
Spectral properties of Google matrix of Wikipedia and other networks
It is shown that the correlator between PageRank and CheiRank vectors distinguishes different organizations of information flow on BBC and Le Monde web sites.
Google matrix analysis of directed networks
This review describes the Google matrix analysis of directed complex networks demonstrating its efficiency on various examples including World Wide Web, Wikipedia, software architecture, world trade, social and citation networks, brain neural networks, DNA sequences and Ulam networks.
Weyl asymptotics: from closed to open systems.
Microwave experiments on the symmetry reduced five-disk billiard studying the transition from a closed to an open system can be interpreted as a first experimental indication for the fractal Weyl conjecture for resonances.
Formation and interaction of resonance chains in the open three-disk system
In ballistic open quantum systems, one often observes that the resonances in the complex-energy plane form a clear chain structure. Taking the open three-disk system as a paradigmatic model system,
Towards two-dimensional search engines
The statistical properties of information flow on PageRank-CheiRank plane are analyzed for networks of British, French and Italian Universities, Wikipedia, Linux Kernel, gene regulation and other networks and methods of spam links control are analyzed.
Google matrix of Twitter
This work constructs the Google matrix of the entire Twitter network, dated by July 2009, and analyzes its spectrum and eigenstate properties including the PageRank and CheiRank vectors and 2DRanking of all nodes to argue that this small fraction of the whole number of users plays the dominant role in the process of opinion formation on the network.
Google matrix of the world trade network
The study establishes the existence of two solid state like domains of rich and poor countries which remain stable in time, while the majority of countries are shown to be in a gas like phase with strong rank fluctuations.
Network Science, Homophily and Who Reviews Who in the Linux Kernel?
A relatively strong homophily tendency for maintainers to review other maintainers is found, but a comparable tendency is surprisingly absent regarding developers’ organizational goals, underline the power of generative mechanisms from network theory to explain the evolution of peer review networks.
Hard and soft bounds in the evolution of Ubuntu packages. A lesson for species body masses
This study follows the size of the building blocks of the Ubuntu Linux operating system over its entire history, revealing a multiplicative diffusion process, constrained by size-dependent bounds, driving the dynamics of the package-size distribution.

Ulam method and fractal Weyl law for Perron-Frobenius operators
We use the Ulam method to study spectral properties of the Perron-Frobenius operators of dynamical maps in a chaotic regime. For maps with absorption we show numerically that the spectrum is
Fractality in complex networks: critical and supercritical skeletons.
A box-covering algorithm is introduced that is a modified version of the original algorithm introduced by Song [Nature (London) 433, 392 (2005)]; this algorithm enables easy implementation.
Resonant eigenstates for a quantized chaotic system
We study the spectrum of quantized open maps as a model for the resonance spectrum of quantum scattering systems. We are particularly interested in open maps admitting a fractal repeller. Using the
Origins of fractality in the growth of complex networks
It is shown that the key principle that gives rise to the fractal architecture of networks is a strong effective ‘repulsion’ (or, disassortativity) between the most connected nodes (that is, the hubs) on all length scales, rendering them very dispersed.
Fractal dimension in software networks
This work studied nine large object-oriented software systems, finding that the graphs associated to these networks are self-similar, and studied the time evolution of the fractal dimension during system growth, finding a significant correlation between the Fractal dimension and object- oriented complexity metrics known to be correlated with software fault-proneness.
Distribution of Resonances for Open Quantum Maps
We analyze a simple model of quantum chaotic scattering system, namely the quantized open baker’s map. This model provides a numerical confirmation of the fractal Weyl law for the semiclassical

The properties of the resonant Gamow states are studied numerically in the semiclassical limit for the quantum Chirikov standard map with absorption. It is shown that the number of such states is
Google matrix, dynamical attractors, and Ulam networks.
The properties of the Google matrix generated by a coarse-grained Perron-Frobenius operator of the Chirikov typical map with dissipation are studied, which shows a power-law decay in PageRank that mirrors the decay of PageRank on the world wide web and a sensitivity to the value alpha inPageRank.
Fractal Weyl laws for chaotic open systems.
The conjecture relating the density of quantum resonances for an open chaotic system to the fractal dimension of the associated classical repeller is presented and the result generalizes the Weyl law for thedensity of states of a closed system to chaotic open systems.
