Four Dimensional Quantum Hall Effect for Dyons

title={Four Dimensional Quantum Hall Effect for Dyons},
  author={Pawan Kumar Joshi and O. P. S. Negi},
Starting with division algebra based on quaternion, we have constructed the generalization of quantum Hall effect from two dimension to four dimension. We have constructed the required Hamiltonian operator and thus obtained its eigen values and eigen functions for four dimensional quantum Hall effect for dyons. The degeneracy of the four dimensional quantum Hall system has been discussed in terms of two integers (P\,and\,Q ) related together where as the integer Q plays the role of Landau level…

High-Dimensional Quantum Hall Effect in String Theory
We construct a string theory realization of the 4+1d quantum Hall effect recently described by Zhang and Hu. The string theory picture contains coincident D4-branes forming an S4 and having D0-branes
The Chern-Simons-Landau-Ginzburg theory of the fractional quantum Hall effect
This paper gives a systematic review of a field theoretical approach to the fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) that has been developed in the past few years. We first illustrate some simple
Configuration-interaction calculations on the fractional quantum Hall effect.
With the use of Haldane's spherical model, the fractional quantum Hall effect is studied by means of large-scale configuration-interaction calculations and a wave function originally proposed by Halperin for the disk geometry is tested on the sphere.
Electron Monopole Duality in Quantum Hall Effect
Starting from the duality between electric and magnetic field, we have made an attempt to discuss the quantum hall effect from the consideration of magnetic monopole in view of electron monopole
Non-Abelian Holonomy of BCS and SDW Quasiparticles
Abstract In this work we investigate properties of fermions in the SO (5) theory of high T c superconductivity. We show that the adiabatic time evolution of a SO (5) superspin vector leads to a
Fractional Quantization of the Hall Effect: A Hierarchy of Incompressible Quantum Fluid States
With use of spherical geometry, a translationally invariant version of Laughlin's proposed "incompressible quantum fluid" state of the two-dimensional electron gas is formulated, and extended to a
Magnetic symmetry and dyons
A self-consistent theory of dyons in Abelian and non-Abelian limits has been formulated in terms of an extra magnetic symmetry and topological magnetic charge. It has been shown that the restricted
Effective Field Theory Description of the Higher Dimensional Quantum Hall Liquid
We derive an effective topological field theory model of the four dimensional quantum Hall liquid state recently constructed by Zhang and Hu. Using a generalization of the flux attachment
Magnetic Charge and Quantum Field Theory
A quantum field theory of magnetic and electric charge is constructed. It is verified to be relativistically invariant in consequence of the charge quantization condition
Inducing a Magnetic Monopole with Topological Surface States
It is proposed that this effect can be used to experimentally realize a gas of quantum particles carrying fractional statistics, consisting of the bound states of the electric charge and the image magnetic monopole charge.
