An in vitro evaluation of fenugreek mucilage as a potential excipient for oral controlled-release matrix tablet.
A polysaccharide mucilage derived from the seeds of fenugreek, Trigonella foenum-graceum L (family Fabaceae) was investigated for use in matrix formulations containing propranolol hydrochloride and the presence of lactose in matrices containing mucilage increased the release rate.
The extract showed its ability to scavenge DPPH in a dose dependant manner and contains phytochemical which possess antioxidant potential and antidiabetic effect.
Evaluation of protective action of fenugreek, insulin and glimepiride and their combination in diabetic Sprague Dawley rats
The treatment with fenugreek, insulin and glimepiride improved the liver parameters in diabetic rats and their combination showed a beneficial effect on liver.
