Sonic disrupted mitoplasts from 3-methylcholanthrene (MCA) treated rats can catalyze the formation of benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) adducts with calf thymus DNA in the presence of an NADPH generating system. The mitoplasts used in this study contained less than 1% microsomal marker enzymes: rotenone insensitive NADPH cytochrome c reductase and glucose-6-phosphatase.
