Finger millet (Eleusine coracana (L.) Gaertn.) germplasm collection involving 4511 accessions at National Active Germplasm Collection Site (NAGS), Project Co-ordination Cell (Small millets), UAS, Bangalore were evaluated for different morpho-agronomic characters over the years. A core set of 551 accessions was formed using this evaluated data by cluster analysis and PCA scoring. Majority of the accessions have Indian origin. The core set formed was true representative of the entire collection… Expand
Development of a core set in brinjal (Solanum melongena L.)
A core set of brinjal germplasm is developed to facilitate access, conservation, and utilization and can be evaluated intensively for agronomic traits, economic traits including resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses and the Shannon–Wiener Diversity Index for qualitative descriptors. Expand
Finger and foxtail millets
Genetic resources are available in foxtail millet, while in finger millet these resources are being developed and use of the genetic and genomic resources need to be accelerated to assist in developing improved cultivars in these crops. Expand
Genetic polymorphisms among and between blast disease resistant and susceptible finger millet, Eleusine coracana (L.) Gaertn.
A high genetic diversity within theresistant and susceptible genotypes, rather than between them, was revealed through Nei's gene diversity (h) index and analysis of molecular variance, which helps to understand the extent of genetic polymorphism between blast disease resistant and susceptible finger millet genotypes to exploit in resistance breeding programs. Genetic and Genomic Resources of Small Millets
An in-depth analysis of the wealth of diverse germplasm resources and future perspectives of integrating genomics in genome-wide marker-trait association and breeding in small millets is worthy. Expand
Genetic and genomic resources, and breeding for accelerating improvement of small millets: current status and future interventions
This review provides a comprehensive insight into the importance of small millets, the global status of their germplasm, diversity, promising germ plasm resources, and breeding approaches (conventional and genomic approaches) to accelerate climate-resilient and nutrient-dense small millet improvement for sustainable agriculture, environment, and healthy food systems. Genetic and Genomic Resources for Grain Cereals Improvement
This is the first book to bring together the latest available genetic resources and genomics to facilitate the identification of specific germplasm, trait mapping, and allele mining that are needed to more effectively develop biotic and abiotic-stress-resistant grains. Expand
