Aging and DNA polymerase beta deficiency (beta-pol(+/-)) interact to accelerate the development of malignant lymphomas and adenocarcinoma and increase tumor bearing load in mice. Folate deficiency (FD) has been shown to induce DNA damage repaired via the base excision repair (BER) pathway.
