A number of hypotheses have suggested that the principal neurological dysfunction responsible for the behavioural symptoms associated with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) is likely rooted in abnormal phasic signals coded by the firing rate of midbrain dopamine neurons.
