Distance teaching has become popular these years because of the COVID-19 epidemic. However, both students and teachers face several challenges in distance teaching, like being easy to distract. We proposed Focus+, a system designed to detect learners' status with the latest AI technology from their web camera to solve such challenges. By doing so, teachers can know students' status, and students can regulate their learning experience. In this research, we will discuss the expected model's…

Undertanding and Detecting Divided Attention in Mobile MOOC Learning

It is found that internal divided attention has a significant negative impact on learning outcomes; and that the photoplethysmography waveforms implicitly captured by OneMind can be used to detect the presence, type, and intensity of divided attention in mobile MOOC learning.

Spatio-Temporal Detection of Divided Attention in Reading Applications Using EEG and Eye Tracking

A novel system that can spatio-temporally detect divided attention in users during two different reading applications: typical document reading and speed reading is presented.

MotionInput v2.0 supporting DirectX: A modular library of open-source gesture-based machine learning and computer vision methods for interacting and controlling existing software with a webcam

This paper introduces the MotionInput v2.0 application, which utilises published open-source libraries and additional gesture definitions developed to take the video stream from a standard RGB webcam as input and maps human motion gestures to input operations for existing applications and games.

Active Learning Literature Survey

This report provides a general introduction to active learning and a survey of the literature, including a discussion of the scenarios in which queries can be formulated, and an overview of the query strategy frameworks proposed in the literature to date.

SUS: A 'Quick and Dirty' Usability Scale

This chapter describes the System Usability Scale (SUS) a reliable, low-cost usability scale that can be used for global assessments of systems usability.

Real-time Facial Surface Geometry from Monocular Video on Mobile GPUs

An end-to-end neural network-based model for inferring an approximate 3D mesh representation of a human face from single camera input for AR applications and demonstrates super-realtime inference speed on mobile GPUs and a high prediction quality that is comparable to the variance in manual annotations of the same image.

AffectNet: A Database for Facial Expression, Valence, and Arousal Computing in the Wild

AffectNet is by far the largest database of facial expression, valence, and arousal in the wild enabling research in automated facial expression recognition in two different emotion models and various evaluation metrics show that the deep neural network baselines can perform better than conventional machine learning methods and off-the-shelf facial expressions recognition systems.

Support Vector Method for Novelty Detection

The algorithm is a natural extension of the support vector algorithm to the case of unlabelled data and is regularized by controlling the length of the weight vector in an associated feature space.

Performance Evaluation of Machine Learning for Recognizing Human Facial Emotions

The authors propose an automatic system that provides users with a well-adopted classifier for recognizing facial expressions in a more accurate manner that outperforms the other classifiers with the highest recognition rate for the same dataset.

Brain Rules: 12 Principles for Surviving and Thriving at Work, Home, and School

Most of us have no idea what's really going on inside our heads. Yet brain scientists have uncovered details every business leader, parent, and teacher should know--like the need for physical
