We investigate quantum fluctuations of the superconducting order parameter in thin homogeneous superconducting wires at all temperatures below T C. We have derived the effective rate for quantum phase slips in such wires. This rate determines the resistance of the wire. In very thin and dirty metallic wires the effect is shown to be clearly observable even at lowest temperatures.
