Lamiaceae Essential Oils, Phytochemical Profile, Antioxidant, and Biological Activities.
- MedicineEvidence-based complementary and alternative medicine : eCAM
The importance of this study is demonstrated as a way to theoretically provide information on the use of different plants belonging to the Lamiaceae family, especially with regard to the physical, chemical, and biological properties of its essential oils.
Homoadamantane and Adamantane Acylphloroglucinols from Hypericum hirsutum.
- Chemistry, BiologyPlanta medica
1H NMR-guided fractionation of the petroleum ether extract of the aerial parts from Hypericum hirsutum yielded to the isolation of 19 polyprenylated polycyclic acylphloroglucinols, the first report of admantan and homoadamantan type acyl phosphorous-based compounds in section Taeniocarpium Jaub.

Growth Inhibitory Activity of Callicarpa americana Leaf Extracts Against Cutibacterium acnes
- MedicineFront. Pharmacol.
This work highlights the potential of C. americana leaf extracts as a cosmeceutical ingredient for the management of acne vulgaris and investigates the C. acnes inhibitory activity of Callicarpa americana leaves, a native Southeastern United States shrub historically used by Native Americans to treat fever, stomachache, and pruritis.
Salvia palmetorum (Lamiaceae), a new species from Sonora, Mexico

Chemical Composition and Biological Activities of Some Marrubium Species Essential Oil: a Review
- BiologyChemistry Journal of Moldova
This paper reviews information on the essential oil of Marrubium species (except M. vulgare) described until now regarding extraction, chemical composition and biological activities and concludes that further studies are necessary, particularly regarding their activities.
Phylogenetic studies uncover a predominantly African lineage in a widely distributed lichen-forming fungal species
This study investigates biogeographic patterns in a widely distributed isidiate taxon – Parmelinella wallichiana – using molecular sequence data and reveals that Parmelineella wallichina is not monophyletic but falls into four clades.
Why is gynodioecy a rare but widely distributed sexual system? Lessons from the Lamiaceae.
- BiologyThe New phytologist
Within the Lamiaceae, lineages in which gynodioecy has frequently evolved also have a high rate of reversions to the nongynodIOecious state, which needs to be understood to understand why sexual systems are more evolutionarily labile in some lineages than in others.
Chemical Constituents of Thymus seravschanicus and Their Biological Activity
- BiologyChemistry of Natural Compounds
This work investigated the chemical composition and cytotoxic and antioxidant activity of extracts of the aerial part of T. seravschanicus and found that thymol and carvacrol were the main constituents of nonpolar extracts of other previously studied Thymus species, which agreed well with previous investigations of these two compounds.
