This paper summarizes floristic and phytossociology data of 11, out of 14 plots of 1 ha, allocated along an altitudinal gradient in the Serra do Mar, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The study was conducted at Serra do Mar State Park and the plots start at the sea level (10 m - plot of Restinga Forest that occurs at Praia da Fazenda, Picinguaba, municipality of Ubatuba) up to 1100 m above sea level (the Montane Ombrophilous Dense occurs alongside the Itamambuca Trail, municipality of Sao Luis do Paraitinga…

Cerrado to Rupestrian Grasslands: Patterns of Species Distribution and the Forces Shaping Them Along an Altitudinal Gradient

Due to clear variations in a relatively small area, mountains represent natural laboratories for evolutionary and ecological studies. In a large degree, these variations are driven by changes in

Floristic and structure of the arboreal community of an Ombrophilous Dense Forest at 800 m above sea level, in Ubatuba/SP, Brazil

Abstract: Undoubtedly, the publication of floristic lists and phytosociological studies are important tools for metadata generation, quantification and characterization of the megadiversity of

Phytosociology a Humid Forest of the Chapada of Araripe, Crato, CE, Brazil

The objective of this work was to contribute to the knowledge of the composition and structural organization of the flora of a wetland area of the Chapada of Araripe, Crato-CE, and the first occurrence of the genus Helicostylis for Ceara was recorded.

Variations in Bryophyte Communities in a Short Elevational Gradient in Atlantic Forest of Southeastern Brazil

Abstract In order to better understand the influence of short elevational gradient on the attributes of bryophyte communities, we examined the bryophyte flora within six elevational belts (10, 50,

em Ubatuba / SP , Brasil

This work describes the tree community structure and composition in a 1 ha plot of undisturbed Atlantic Forest located at the north coast (S 23° 21’ 59.8” – W 45° 05’ 02.8”) of São Paulo state and

Beta diversity as an indicator of priority areas for Myrtaceae assemblage conservation in Subtropical Araucaria Forest

We can say that studies on diversity provide knowledgeable insights into which areas with different compositions will be initially preserved or those which require more attention for government

New records of polypores (Basidiomycota) from the state of São Paulo, Brazil

The diversity of polypores in Brazil is still poorly known, but two species were found as new records for the state of Sao Paulo and Dichomitus cylindrosporus Ryvarden as a new record for Brazil.

Bryophytes are indicators of climatic, environmental and ecology conditions and are useful in the characterization of the vegetation types. In this study, we analyzed the brioflora of 2-ha plots, one

This study presents a comparative analyzes of two areas of Atlantic Rain Forest, in the municipality of Ubatuba (SP), Brazil, and tests the hypothesis that floristic composition and phytosociological structure change along an altitudinal gradient, and shows that there are significant differences in density, richness and volume.

Diameter (stem height of Euterpe edulis) distributions of the main species indicate abundant regeneration and stable population structure, and this forest is probably at climax or at least approaching the final stage of succession.

The results showed that the floristic composition changed with altitude, but not the forest structure and species diversity, which can be considered to be within the highest values found for Atlantic forests.

The results suggest that forest structure recovery may occur within 25 years but, as shown by the total number of species and by the diversity parameters determined, species richness does not recover within this time frame.

Altitudinal distribution and species richness of herbaceous plants in campos rupestres of the Southern Espinhaço Range, Minas Gerais, Brazil / Distribuição altitudinal e riqueza de espécies de plantas herbáceas em campos rupestres do sul da Cadeia do Espi

The serras presented a high similarity value, but cluster and ordination analysis indicated the formation of two distinct groups, reflecting the importance of local factors to determine the floristic composition of neighboring areas of campos rupestres.

The atlantic forest in Sao Paulo state, has been described in the scientific literature as having high floristic diversity. Such statement is based on data and conclusions of local floristic and

The consequences of the removal of areas above 1800 m and on the hill tops as Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs), the reducing on the minimum width of the riparian vegetation and the exemption to smallholders of the conservation of native vegetation on their lands ("Legal Reserves") are analyzed.

Variations in floristic and phytosociological structure of an upper montane forest in Mantiqueira Range, Monte Verde, MG

The upper montane forests are known to have a different floristic composition and phytosociological structure from forests located at lower altitudes. A survey was carried out in an area of upper

The differences observed between the sites studied, as well as the occurrence of rare and endangered species highlight the importance of the conservation of the area.
