MR. PHILIP HOFER has recently acquired and deposited in the collection of Printing and Graphic Arts in the Houghton Library, Harvard University, a curious little booklet printed in Venice in 1560. The Descrittione dell' artifitiosa machina is a pamphlet of six leaves (24.5 x I7 cm.), including title-page, two full-page woodcuts and nine pages of text with four small woodcuts.
