Kernel logistic regression (KLR) is a popular non-linear classification technique. Unlike an empirical risk minimization approach such as employed by Support Vector Machines (SVMs), KLR yields probabilistic outcomes based on a maximum likelihood argument which are particularly important in speech recognition.
