A survey of the gill parasites of Epinephelus costae (Teleostei: Serranidae) was conducted between 2001 and 2005 in the Gulf of Gabès (Tunisia). Five new species of Diplectanidae (Monogenea) were collected, all belonging to Pseudorhabdosynochus Yamaguti, 1958: P. bouaini sp. n., P. dolicocolpos sp. n., P. enitsuji sp. n., P. sinediscus sp. n., and P. sosia sp. n. These five species differ from each other and from all described species of Pseudorhabdosynochus by the morphology and size of their…

Three new species of Pseudorhabdosynochus (Monogenea, Diplectanidae) from several species of Cephalopholis and Epinephelus (Perciformes, Serranidae) from Thailand

Pseudorhabdosynochus suratthaniensis n. sp. is described from the gills of Cephalopholis argus; P. cephalopholi n. sp., from the gills of C. sonnerati; and P. samaesarnensis n. sp., from the gills of

Species of Pseudorhabdosynochus (Monogenea, Diplectanidae) from Groupers (Mycteroperca spp., Epinephelidae) in the Mediterranean and Eastern Atlantic Ocean, with Special Reference to the ‘Beverleyburtonae Group’ and Description of Two New Species

Pseudorhabdosynochus Yamaguti, 1958 is a species-rich diplectanid genus, mainly restricted to the gills of groupers (Epinephelidae) and especially abundant in warm seas. Species from the

Monogeneans of the grouper Epinephelus tauvina (Perciformes, Serranidae) off Moorea, French Polynesia, with a description of Pseudorhabdosynochus pai n. sp. (Monogenea: Diplectanidae)

The diplectanid fauna of E. tauvina corresponds to the pattern already found in a clade of grouper species, the members of which often harbour both a species of the ‘cupatus group’ and another species of Pseudorhabdosynochus Yamaguti, 1958.

Two new species of Pseudorhabdosynochus Yamaguti, 1958 (Monogenea: Diplectanidae) from the deep-sea grouper Epinephelus morrhua (Val.) (Perciformes: Serranidae) off New Caledonia

Three species of monogeneans were collected from Epinephelus morrhua, a deep-sea grouper from the external slope of the coral reef, off New Caledonia, South Pacific, and are the first parasites

Three new species of Pseudorhabdosynochus (Monogenea: Diplectanidae) from Vietnamese grouper ( Epinephelus spp.) (Perciformes: Serranidae)

Three new species of monogen ea are described from cultured and wild grouper from Nha Trang and Cam Ranh Bays, Vietnam, and can be differentiated from otherPseudorhabdosynochus species by the vaginal structure.

A redescription of Pseudorhabdosynochus epinepheli (Yamaguti, 1938), the type-species of Pseudorhabdosynochus Yamaguti, 1958 (Monogenea: Diplectanidae), and the description of P. satyui n. sp. from Epinephelus akaara off Japan

It is concluded that the three species of Diplectanum epinepheli are synonymous, as did Kritsky & Beverley-Burton (1986), and several causes are suspected for the alleged ‘generalist’ character of P. epinePheli.

Pseudorhabdosynochus regius n. sp. (Monogenea, Diplectanidae) from the mottled grouper Mycteroperca rubra (Teleostei) in the Mediterranean Sea and Eastern Atlantic

Pseudorhabdosynochus regius n. sp. is described from the gills of the mottled grouper Mycteroperca rubra caught off Senegal, Tunisia and Libya (type-locality: off Dakar, Senegal). The species is

Four species of Pseudorhabdosynochus (Monogenea: Diplectanidae) from the camouflage grouper Epinephelus polyphekadion (Perciformes: Serranidae) off New Caledonia

Gill diplectanid monogeneans from the camouflage grouper Epinephelus polyphekadion (Bleeker) collected in the coral reef lagoon of New Caledonia, South Pacific, comprise four species which are morphologically indistinguishable.

Are all species of Pseudorhabdosynochus strictly host specific? A molecular study.

Pseudorhabdosynochus sulamericanus (Monogenea, Diplectanidae), a parasite of deep-sea groupers (Serranidae) occurs transatlantically on three congeneric hosts (Hyporthodus spp.), one from the Mediterranean Sea and two from the western Atlantic

This transatlantic distribution raises questions with regard to phylogeography and assumptions about the allopatry of Atlantic grouper species from the Americas and Afro-Eurasia and proposes some hypothetical explanations for these findings.

Species of Pseudorhabdosynochus Yamaguti, 1958 (Monogenea: Diplectanidae) from Epinephelus fasciatus and E. merra (Perciformes: Serranidae) off New Caledonia and other parts of the Indo-Pacific Ocean, with a comparison of measurements of specimens prepared using different methods, and a description

Experiments on two species of Pseudorhabdosynochus demonstrated that the sclerotised hollow organs, such as the quadriloculate male copulatory organ and the vagina, may show differences in measurements of up to 50% when flattened.

Pseudorhabdosynochus summanoides n. sp. (Monogenea: Diplectanidae) from Epinephelus coioides in Dapeng Bay, South China Sea, with Observations on Several Similar Species of Pseudorhabdosynochus Yamaguti, 1958

One new species of diplectanid monogenean, Pseudorhabdosynochus summanoides n. sp., is reported and described from the marine fish Epinephelus coioides off Nan’ao Shenzhen, China. P. summanoides

Some Monogenoideans of the Family Diplectanidae Bychowsky, 1957 from Australian Teleost Fishes

Four new species of the genus Diplectanum Diesing, 1858 are described from fresh materials from the type hosts and the generic diagnosis is emended from a study of these specimens.

Three diplectanid monogeneans from marine finfish (Epinephelus spp.) in the Far East

Two new species of diplectanid monogeneans, Diplectanum grouperi and Pseudorhabdosynochus coioidesis from the marine finfish EpinephelusCoioides and E. lantauensis, were described and compared with P. aerolatus(Serranidae), cultured in floating cages in Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong.

Pseudorhabdosynochus hirundineus n. sp. (Monogenea: Diplectanidae) from Variola louti (Perciformes: Serranidae) off New Caledonia

Pseudorhabdosynochus hirundineus n. sp. is described from specimens collected from the gills of Variola louti off Nouméa, New Caledonia, South Pacific. No diplectanid was found on V. albimarginata

Pseudorhabdosynochus yucatanensis sp. n. (Monogenea: Diplectanidae) from the gills of the red grouper Epinephelus morio (Pisces: Serranidae) of the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico.

A new species is described from the gills of the red grouper, Epinephelus morio, from the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico, characterized by having both the ventral and the dorsal squamodiscs composed of 10-12 rows of rods, with 0-1 innermost row forming a closed circle.

Diplectanids (Monogenea) parasitic on the gills of the coralgroupers Plectropomus laevis and P. leopardus (Perciformes, Serranidae) off New Caledonia, with the description of five new species and the erection of Echinoplectanum n. g.

Six of the seven species of Echinoplectanum are parasitic in members of Plectropomus from the South West Pacific, but one (E. echinophallus) is a parasite of Epinephelus marginatus and has been recorded only from the Mediterranean and East Atlantic.
