Abstract This study would explore the survival strategy for poor fishing families in coastal areas of Bone Regency, Indonesia. The research findings shows that survival strategy are diversification, which is conducted by various types of businesses, involve the whole family, two meals and diversify the type of food are eaten, as well as a sense of solidarity and trust among neighbours is high enough.
