The islands of Tinos and Syros in the Cyclades Archipelago, Greece, have a hilly terrain, a mild Mediterranean climate and vegetation adapted to drought conditions. Caper ( Capparis spinosa L.) is highly adapted to arid environments and grows successfully during the Mediterranean summer.
