We present the first observation in hadronic collisions of the electroweak production of vector boson pairs (VV, V = W, Z) where one boson decays to a dijet final state. The data correspond to 3.5 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity of pp[over ] collisions at sqrt[s] = 1.96 TeV collected by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. We observe 1516 + or - 239(stat) + or - 144(syst) diboson candidate events and measure a cross section sigma(pp[over ]-->VV + X) of 18.0 + or - 2.8(stat) + or - 2.4…

Study of the ZZ diboson production at CDF II

The subject of this Thesis is the production of a pair of massive Z vector bosons in the proton antiproton collisions at the Tevatron, at the center-of-mass energy √s = 1.96 TeV. We measure the ZZ

Search for WZ+ZZ Production with Missing Transverse Energy and b Jets at CDF

Observation of diboson processes at hadron colliders is an important milestone on the road to discovery or exclusion of the standard model Higgs boson. Since the decay processes happen to be closely

A positive-weight next-to-leading order simulation of weak boson pair production

In this article we describe simulations of ZZ, W±Z and W+W− production based on the positive weight next-to-leading-order (NLO) matching scheme, Powheg, in the Herwig++ event generator. Building on

Tevatron greatest hits

The Tevatron collider led the World energy frontier program in particle physics during the late 20th and early 21st centuries. During this exciting period the standard model of particle physics was

What the Tevatron found?

The CDF collaboration has reported a 4.1σ excess in their lepton, missing energy, and dijets channel. This excess, which takes the form of an approximately Gaussian peak centered at a dijet invariant

Using γ + jets production to calibrate the Standard Model $ Z\left( { \to v\bar{v}} \right) $ + jets background to new physics processes at the LHC

The irreducible background from Z (→ νν) + jets, to beyond the Standard Model searches at the LHC, can be calibrated using γ + jets data. The method utilises the fact that at high vector boson pT (≫

CP-violation in the ZZZ and ZWW vertices at e+e− colliders in Two-Higgs-Doublet Models

A bstractWe discuss possibilities of measuring CP violation in the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model by studying effects of one-loop generated ZZZ and ZW W vertices. We discuss a set of CP-sensitive

Investigating the Quantum Properties of Jets and the Search for a Supersymmetric Top Quark Partner with the ATLAS Detector

Quarks and gluons are the fundamental building blocks of matter responsible for most of the visible energy density in the universe. However, they cannot be directly observed due to the confining

Measurement of WW + WZ production cross section and study of the dijet mass spectrum in the ℓν + jets final state at CDF

We present the measurement of the $WW$ and $WZ$ production cross section in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96$ TeV, in a final state consisting of an electron or muon, neutrino and jets. The

Review of Physics Results from the Tevatron. Electroweak Physics

We summarize an extensive Tevatron (1984–2011) electroweak physics program that involves a variety of W and Z boson precision measurements. The relevance of these studies using single and associated

The DØ Collaboration

We present a study of eeγ and μμγ events using 1109 (1009) pb−1 of data in the electron (muon) channel, respectively. These data were collected with the DØ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp̄

For the CDF Collaboration

This paper presents a measurement of J/ψ,ψ ′ differential cross sections in p¯ p collisions at √ s = 1.8 TeV. The cross sections are measured above 4 GeV/c in the central region (|η| < 0.6) using the
