A search for the rare decays B(s)(0)→μ+ μ- and B(0)→μ+ μ- is performed with data collected in 2011 and 2012 with the LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The data samples comprise 1.1  fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=8  TeV and 1.0  fb(-1) at sqrt[s]=7  TeV. We observe an excess of B(s)(0)→μ+ μ- candidates with respect to the background expectation. The probability that the background could produce such an excess or larger is 5.3×10(-4) corresponding to a signal… Expand

Measurement of the Bs(0)→μ+ μ- branching fraction and search for B(0)→μ+ μ- with the CMS experiment.
An unbinned maximum-likelihood fit to the dimuon invariant mass distribution gives a branching fraction B(Bs(0)→μ+ μ-)=(3.0(-0.9)(+1.0))×10(-9), where the uncertainty includes both statistical and systematic contributions. Expand
Search and measurement of the B → μμ rare processes with LHC Run I data
The decays Bs0→μ+μ− and B0→μ+μ− are highly suppressed in the standard model constituting sensitive probes of new physics. We present the results of a search for these rare decays in proton-protonExpand
Combination of results on the rare decays B 0 ( s ) → μ + μ − from the CMS and LHCb experiments
• 2014
A combination of results on the rare decays B s → μ+μ− and B → μ+μ− from the CMS and LHCb experiments is performed. After accounting for known correlations, the average time-integrated branchingExpand
New results on the search for B 0 ! + from LHCb
A search for the rare decays B 0! + and B 0 ! + is performed with the LHCb experiment using 1.1 fb 1 of data collected at p s = 8 TeV and 1.0 fb 1 of data collected at p s = 7 TeV. An excess of B 0 !Expand
Study of Bs0 → µ+µ− and Bd0 → µ+µ− decays in flavor-changing Z′ models
• Physics
• 2014
Recently, the first evidence for the decay Bs0 → μ+μ− has been announced by the LHCb Collaboration and the measured branching ratio B(s0 → μ+) = (3.2−1.2+1.5) × 10−9 is in good agreement with theExpand
Rare beauty and charm decays at LHCb
Rare heavy flavor decays are an ideal place to search for the effects of potential new particles that modify the decay rates or the Lorentz structure of the decay vertices. The LHCb experiment, aExpand
Branching ratios of charmed baryons in the LHCb experiment
LHCb is the dedicated heavy flavour experiment on the LHC accelerator ring. An analysis measuring the relative branching fractions of Lc->phh decays is presented using 1 inverse femtobarn of proton -Expand
Precision tests of the Standard Model using key observables of $CP$ violation and rare decays
In this thesis advanced statistical methods are used for precision studies in the flavour sector of the Standard Model of particle physics. The necessary tools are developed and applied to two keyExpand
Probing new physics with the Bs → μ+μ− time-dependent rate
• Physics
• 2013
A bstractThe Bs → μ+μ− decay plays an outstanding role in tests of the Standard Model and physics beyond it. The LHCb collaboration has recently reported the first evidence for this decay at the 3.5Expand
Sensitivity of the squark flavor mixing to the CP violation of K, B 0 and B s mesons
• Physics
• 2013
Abstract We study the sensitivity of the squark flavor mixing to the CP violating phenomena of K, B 0 and B s mesons in the framework of the split-family scenario, where the first and second familyExpand
