BackgroundClausiliidae (door snails) are gastropods with a very high diversity concerning shell morphology, especially of their complex closing apparatus, which provides the most important diagnostic traits for classification of taxa. Due to the high variability, a high number of taxa has been described, though their systematics and taxonomy is partially controversially discussed. Montenegrina is the second most speciose door snail genus in Europe. It is an obligate rock-dwelling land snail and… Expand

Phylogeny of the land snail family Clausiliidae (Gastropoda: Pulmonata).
The results suggest that the so-called 'apostrophic' aperture found in the neotropical clausiliids, and in a European and a SE Asian subfamily, is in fact the plesiomorphic condition among extant Clausiliidae. Expand
Phylogeography of the land snail Albinaria hippolyti (Pulmonata: Clausiliidae) from Crete, inferred from ITS-1 sequences
The resulting phylogeography suggests that the polytypic Cretan land snail Albinaria hippolyti has undergone a recent cycle of range expansion and range reduction, and cannot be linked to major geological vicariance events in the Miocene and Pliocene as has been suggested previously. Expand
Survival and differentiation of subspecies of the land snail Charpentieria itala in mountain refuges in the Southern Alps
The genetic differentiation and the isolated distribution areas of the stenzioid subspecies indicate that they survived in five separate mountain refuges in the Bergamasque, Brescia and Garda Prealps, and the clustering of the Charpentieria itala latestriata populations from different valleys indicates a low‐altitude refuge. Systematics of Strobeliella from the southern Alps and its relationships within Clausilia (Gastropoda: Clausiliidae)
It is shown that Clausilia as defined by a normal-type clausilial apparatus is not monophyletic, but that the Clausilia (Strobeliella) species from the southern Alps form a clade with C. corynodes and C. klemmi, and it is proposed to classify Neostyriaca as a subgenus of Clausilia, but restrict it to C. strobeli. Polymorphic microsatellite DNA markers in the endangered land snail, Trichia caelata (Gastropoda, Stylommatophora)
Eight novel polymorphic microsatellite loci are presented for the endangered land snail Trichia caelata, a rare species endemic to the Northwestern Jura mountains, Switzerland, and no evidence for linkage disequilibrium was detected between locus pairs. Expand
Taxonomic revision of the rock-dwelling door snail genus Montenegrina Boettger, 1877 (Mollusca, Gastropoda, Clausiliidae)
Abstract The genus Montenegrina is revised on the basis of material available at the Hungarian Natural History Museum (Budapest), Naturhistorisches Museum Wien (Vienna), and the NaturmuseumExpand
Micro-Checker: Software for identifying and correcting genotyping errors in microsatellite data
DNA degradation, low DNA concentrations and primer-site mutations may result in the incorrect assignment of microsatellite genotypes, potentially biasing population genetic analyses. MICRO - CHECKERExpand

Multiplex Manager 1.0: a cross-platform computer program that plans and optimizes multiplex PCR.
This work designs efficient combinations of existing genetic marker loci into multiplex polymerase chain reactions and optimizes using prior marker information, and minimizes the number of reactions, the genetic linkage, and the difference in annealing temperature. Expand
