OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the outcome of pregnancies complicated by first-trimester intrauterine hematoma. METHODS: An analysis was performed on 248 cases. The pregnancy outcome was correlated with hematoma volume, gestational age (weeks), and maternal age (years). RESULTS: One hundred eighty-two cases were eligible for the study. Clinical complications occurred in 38.5% of the cases (adverse outcome group). Spontaneous abortion (14.3%), fetal growth restriction (7.7%), and preterm delivery (6.6… Expand

TLDR
Intrauterine hematoma in the second and third trimesters is a sign of pathological pregnancy, resulting in adverse outcomes, and maternal age, gestational age at first diagnosis, location of hematomas and accompanying contraction are risk factors for poor pregnancy outcomes. Expand
Prognosis of Very Large First‐Trimester Hematomas
TLDR
Very large hematomas were associated with adverse outcome in 46% of the pregnancies and neither position nor location of the placental hematoma was related to the outcome; however, when the hematum was diagnosed at an early gestational age, the outcomes were worse. Expand
The impact of first-trimester intrauterine hematoma on adverse perinatal outcomes
TLDR
Women with first-trimester IUH had a higher risk of miscarriage after the ultrasound scan and heart rate was the only variable that predicted miscarriage with statistical significance. Expand
Study of outcome of pregnancy in patients with first-trimester bleeding per vaginum
TLDR
First-trimester bleeding is associated with an increased risk of certain pregnancy-related complications namely placental abruption, preterm labor, delivery of low birth weight infants and preterm premature rupture of membrane. Expand
Associations between first-trimester intrauterine hematoma and twin pregnancy outcomes: a retrospective cohort study
TLDR
In women with twin pregnancy, the presence of IUH in the first trimester was associated with the loss of one or both fetuses before 20 weeks of gestation, but these characteristics were not associated with pregnancy loss or vanishing twin syndrome. Expand
The effects of subchorionic hematoma on pregnancy outcome in patients with threatened abortion.
TLDR
Ulasonographically detected subchorionic hematoma increases the risk of miscarriage in patients with vaginal bleeding and threatened abortion during the first 20 weeks of gestation, however, it does not affect the pregnancy outcome measures of ongoing pregnancies. Expand
Ultrasound-Detected Subchorionic Hemorrhage and the Obstetric Implications
TLDR
Women with ultrasound-detected subchorionic hemorrhage before 22 weeks of gestation are at increased risk of placental abruption and preterm delivery but are not at increasedrisk of other adverse pregnancy outcomes. Expand
A study of feto-maternal outcome in bleeding per vaginum in first trimester of pregnancy
TLDR
If pregnancy continues poor maternal and foetal outcome such as preterm delivery, preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM), placental abruption, preeclampsia and intra uterine growth restriction (IUGR) may occur suggestive of underlying placental dysfunction. Expand
Clinical significance of first-trimester intrauterine haematomas detected in pregnancies achieved by IVF-embryo transfer.
TLDR
The presence of first-trimester intrauterine haematomas in IVF-ET pregnancies was associated with a higher risk of several pregnancy complications and the incidence of preterm delivery was significantly higher in the IUH group. Expand

TLDR
It was concluded that SCH was associated with lower birth weight in singleton pregnancy, but SCH did not increase pregnancy loss rate in IVF/ICSI patients, and fresh embryo transfer may contribute to SCH onset. Expand

TLDR
For women with a subchorionic hematomas that is sonographically identified, fetal outcome is dependent on size of the hematoma, maternal age, and gestational age. Expand
Obstetric Outcome After Threatened Miscarriage With and Without a Hematoma on Ultrasound
TLDR
Threatened miscarriage in the first trimester is associated with an increased incidence of adverse pregnancy outcome, independently of the presence of an intrauterine hematoma, and higher MSAFP in threatened miscarriage suggests a direct placental injury even in the absence of a hematomas. Expand
Clinical Significance of Subchorionic and Retroplacental Hematomas Detected in the First Trimester of Pregnancy
TLDR
It is suggested that the presence of an intrauterine hematoma during the first trimester may identify a population of patients at increased risk for adverse pregnancy outcome. Expand

Histologic evidence of old intrauterine bleeding is more frequent in prematurity.

Decidual bleeding is common in all clinical types of preterm birth and is most common in preterm preeclampsia and nonhypertensive abruption placentae and a clinical history of bleeding is not correlated with the presence of decidual hemosiderin. Expand

TLDR
Persistent subchorionic hematoma with clinical symptoms until delivery is likely to result in abortion or premature labor, because that may be thought to be a severe type. Expand
