Abstract As part of a year-long exploration of the development of visual literacy among children, subjects talked and wrote about paintings, picture books, and films. The program introduced children to visual elements (such as line) and compositional principles (such as balance). It also acquainted them with the work of well-known artists and children's illustrators.
