We present constraints on the masses of extremely light bosons dubbed fuzzy dark matter (FDM) from Lyman-α forest data. Extremely light bosons with a de Broglie wavelength of ∼1  kpc have been suggested as dark matter candidates that may resolve some of the current small scale problems of the cold dark matter model. For the first time, we use hydrodynamical simulations to model the Lyman-α flux power spectrum in these models and compare it to the observed flux power spectrum from two different… Expand
First constraints on Fuzzy Dark Matter from the dynamics of stellar streams in the Milky Way
We present a novel method to constrain the mass of ultra-light bosons as the dark matter using stellar streams formed by disrupting Globular Clusters in the Milky Way. The turbulent density field ofExpand
Constraining the mass of light bosonic dark matter using SDSS Lyman-α forest
If a significant fraction of the dark matter in the Universe is made of an ultra-light scalar field, named fuzzy dark matter (FDM) with a mass of the order of 10^−22 − 10^−21 eV, then its de BroglieExpand
The Importance of Quantum Pressure of Fuzzy Dark Matter on Lyα Forest
With recent Lyman-alpha forest data from BOSS and XQ-100, some studies suggested that the lower mass limit on the fuzzy dark matter (FDM) particles is lifted up to $10^{-21}\,\mathrm{eV}$. However,Expand
Strong Constraints on Fuzzy Dark Matter from Ultrafaint Dwarf Galaxy Eridanus II.
TLDR
It is demonstrated how O(1) fluctuations in the dark matter density on time scales which are shorter than the gravitational timescale lead to heating of star clusters and, thus, an increase in their size over time. Expand
Lyman α forest and non-linear structure characterization in Fuzzy Dark Matter cosmologies
Fuzzy Dark Matter (FDM) represents an alternative and intriguing description of the standard Cold Dark Matter (CDM) fluid, able to explain the lack of direct detection of dark matter particles in theExpand
Novel constraints on non-cold (non-thermal) Dark Matter from Lyman-$α$ forest data
In this paper we present an efficient method for constraining both thermal and non-thermal Dark Matter (DM) scenarios with the Lyman-$\alpha$ forest, based on a simple and flexible parametrisationExpand
Constraining noncold dark matter models with the global 21-cm signal
Any particle dark matter (DM) scenario featuring a suppressed power spectrum of astrophysical relevance results in a delay of galaxy formation. As a consequence, such scenarios can be constrainedExpand
Fuzzy dark matter at cosmic dawn: new 21-cm constraints
Potential small-scale discrepancies in the picture of galaxy formation painted by the $\Lambda$CDM paradigm have led to considerations of modified dark matter models. One such dark matter model thatExpand
Lyman-alpha Constraints on Ultralight Scalar Dark Matter: Implications for the Early and Late Universe
We investigate constraints on scalar dark matter (DM) by analyzing the Lyman-alpha forest, which probes structure formation at medium and small scales, and also by studying its cosmologicalExpand
The Lyman-α forest as a diagnostic of the nature of the dark matter
The observed Lyman-α flux power spectrum (FPS) is suppressed on scales below ${\sim} ~ 30\, {\rm km\, s}^{-1}$. This cut-off could be due to the high temperature, T0, and pressure, p0, of theExpand
