Background: It has been suggested that both adult sexual orientation and the 2nd to 4th finger length ratio (2D:4D) are influenced by prenatal testosterone levels. Bearing this in mind, 2D:4D has been tested as a proxy measure of the putative prenatal testosterone impact on adult human homosexuality, but the results are inconsistent. To date, most studies in this field of research comprise categorical group comparison of heterosexuals and homosexuals with respect to their 2D:4D. Aims: The…

Sexual orientation and the second to fourth finger length ratio: a meta-analysis in men and women.
TLDR
It is found that heterosexual women had higher (more feminine) left- and right-hand 2D:4D than did lesbians, but there was no difference between heterosexual and gay men.
Finger Length Ratio (2D:4D) in Adults with Gender Identity Disorder
TLDR
The results indirectly point to the possibility of a weak influence of reduced prenatal testosterone as an etiological factor in the multifactorially influenced development of MtF GID, where the development of FtM GID seems even more unlikely to be notably influenced by prenatal testosterone.
Prenatal Influences on Sexual Orientation: Digit Ratio (2D:4D) and Number of Older Siblings
Prenatal androgen levels are suggested to influence sexual orientation in both sexes. The 2D:4D digit ratio has been found to associate with sexual orientation, but published findings have often been
The Relationship Between Digit Ratio (2D:4D) and Sexual Orientation in Men from China
We examined the relationship between 2D:4D digit ratio and sexual orientation in men from China and analyzed the influences of the components used to assess sexual orientation and the criteria used
THE 2D:4D PROJECT USING 2D:4D RATIO TO DETERMINE WHETHER SEXUAL & ROMANTIC ORIENTATION ARE INFLUENCED BY HORMONAL BALANCES
  • Psychology
Romantic and sexual orientation are considered key parts of one’s identity. But are they so much a part of one’s “identity” as part of one’s hormonal make-up? By using a biological marker for
Sexual Orientation, Sexual Arousal, and Finger Length Ratios in Women
TLDR
Women’s sexual and behavioral traits, and potential anatomical traits, are possibly masculinized at different stages of gestation, possibly due to their sex-atypical masculinization during prenatal development.
Association Between Hand Digit Ratio (2D:4D) and Nonsyndromic Orofacial Clefts
TLDR
The results are not consistent with an association between 2D:4D ratio and this craniofacial deformity, which suggests that intrauterine exposure to fetal androgens, assessed using this marker, is similar between patients with NSCL/P and healthy individuals.

TLDR
Findings add to evidence that prenatal hormonal factors may be linked to men's sexual orientation as well as ethnic groups, after ethnicity was taken into account.
Digit Ratio (2D:4D) in Homosexual and Heterosexual Men from Austria
TLDR
No significant difference is found between means for homosexual and heterosexual 2D:4D, with values for both falling between 0.96 to 0.97, and it is concluded that more data are required to clarify whether or not there is a 2D-4D effect for sexual orientation in men.

TLDR
It was the 2D:4D values for the heterosexual participants that varied most, particularly between the USA and the British studies, and these were responsible for many of the discrepancies in the conclusions across studies.
