The concept of fibromyalgia has progressed to achieve a certain consensus regarding the definition of the condition. We summarize what is known in 2020, be it in terms of diagnosis, with the criteria that have changed over the years, or at the level of the psychological profile, via the notions of “catastrophizing” and “coping” and post-traumatic syndrome. The importance of fatigue and sleep disorders is underlined, with the chronological sequence of post-traumatic syndrome, chronic fatigue…

Whole-Body Cryostimulation in Fibromyalgia: A Scoping Review

TLDR
Initial evidence indicates WBC as a promising add-on option in the multidisciplinary treatment of FM, due to its rapid action and high patients’ compliance, and larger, high-quality primary studies are still needed.

The Relationship between Daily Physical Activity, Psychological Factors, and Vegetative Symptoms in Women with Fibromyalgia: A Cross-Sectional Observational Study.

TLDR
There is an association between vegetative symptoms and psychological factors, and more research which takes other factors into account, such as lifestyle and nutritional, is needed.

Cultural Validation of the Chinese Central Sensitization Inventory in Patients with Chronic Pain and its Predictive Ability of Comorbid Central Sensitivity Syndromes

TLDR
The Chinese CSI-C is a reliable and valid instrument for measuring CS and demonstrates a high internal consistency and excellent test–retest reliability, and it is found that the CS manifestations are prevalent in those with persistent pain.

Pharmacological treatments of fibromyalgia in adults; overview of phase IV clinical trials

TLDR
Treatment options for fibromyalgia only are limited and they are designed to alleviate the symptoms rather than to alter the pathological pathway of the condition itself, due to its complexity and association with other functional pain syndromes.

Disease activity measures with subjective elements are conflated in patients with fibromyalgia and do not reliably assess true inflammatory disease, a finding which has been observed in other diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.

TLDR

Possible Molecular Mediators Involved and Mechanistic Insight into Fibromyalgia and Associated Co-morbidities

TLDR
Various dysregulations and their association with symptoms of fibromyalgia along with their underlying neurobiological aspects are presented.

Anxiety and depressive symptoms in fibromyalgia are related to poor perception of health but not to pain sensitivity or cerebral processing of pain.

TLDR
Evidence is provided that 2 partially segregated mechanisms are involved in the neural processing of experimental pain and negative affect and that negative mood in FM patients can lead to a poor perception of one's physical health but does not influence performance on assessments of clinical and experimental pain.
