We present the lattice structure of Feynman diagram renormalization in physical QFTs from the viewpoint of Dyson-Schwinger-Equations and the core Hopf algebra of Feynman diagrams. The lattice structure encapsules the nestedness of diagrams. This structure can be used to give explicit expressions for the counterterms in zero-dimensional QFTs using the lattice-Moebius function. Different applications for the tadpole-free quotient, in which all appearing elements correspond to semimodular lattices…

A forest formula to subtract infrared singularities in amplitudes for wide-angle scattering

For any hard QCD amplitude with massless partons, infrared (IR) singularities arise from pinches in the complex planes of loop momenta, called pinch surfaces. To organize and study their leading

Algebraic Lattices in QFT Renormalization

The structure of overlapping subdivergences, which appear in the perturbative expansions of quantum field theory, is analyzed using algebraic lattice theory. It is shown that for specific QFTs the

Renormalization in Quantum Field Theory and the Riemann–Hilbert Problem I: The Hopf Algebra Structure of Graphs and the Main Theorem

Abstract:This paper gives a complete selfcontained proof of our result announced in [6] showing that renormalization in quantum field theory is a special instance of a general mathematical procedure

Wonderful Compactifications in Quantum Field Theory

This article reviews the use of DeConcini-Procesi wonderful models in renormalization of ultraviolet divergences in position space as introduced by Bergbauer, Brunetti and Kreimer. In contrast to the

Cutkosky Rules from Outer Space

We overview recent results on the mathematical foundations of Cutkosky rules. We emphasize that the two operations of shrinking an internal edge or putting internal lines on the mass-shell are

Quantum fields, periods and algebraic geometry

We discuss how basic notions of graph theory and associated graph polynomials define questions for algebraic geometry, with an emphasis given to an analysis of the structure of Feynman rules as

Combinatorial Hopf algebras in quantum field theory. I

This paper stands at the interface between combinatorial Hopf algebra theory and renormalization theory. Its plan is as follows: Sec. 1.1 is the introduction, and contains an elementary invitation to

Polynomial functors and combinatorial Dyson–Schwinger equations

We present a general abstract framework for combinatorial Dyson–Schwinger equations, in which combinatorial identities are lifted to explicit bijections of sets, and more generally equivalences of

Hopf algebras, from basics to applications to renormalization

These notes are an extended version of a series of lectures given at Bogota from 2nd to 6th december 2002. They aim to present a self-contained introduction to the Hopf-algebraic techniques which
