An adaptive methodforperforming optimal time-varying filtering ofnonstationary signals having arecurring statistical character, e.g., recurring pulses innoise, hasbeenproposed. Thismethod, called time-sequenced adaptive filtering, isapplied totheenhancement of abdominally derived fetal electrocardiograms against background musclenoise.
