Restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) markers were used to distinguish the chromosomes of Solanum brevidens from those of potato (S. tuberosum) in a fertile somatic hybrid. The hybrid had markers that account for all 24 chromosome arms from each parent, indicating that the hybrid contained at least one copy of each chromosome from each parent.
