Fermentation products of the anaerobic ciliate Trimyema compressum in monoxenic cultures

Abstract

A new monoxenic culture of the anaerobic ciliate Trimyema compressum was established on the purple nonsulfur bacterium Rubrivivax gelatinosus. Compared with the first monoxenic culture of T. compressum on a Bacteroides species no significant difference in growth rate was observed. Using both monoxenic cultures the fermentation products of the ciliate… (More)
