This paper examines the responses of F1 hybrids between two closely related chrysomelid beetles to the host plants of their parents. Ophraella notulata (NTL) and O. slobodkini (SLB) feed exclusively on the asteraceous plants Iva frutescens and Ambrosia artemisiifolia, respectively. Virgin males and females were crossed in all possible combinations and their progeny were tested for host preference, host acceptability and larval survival on each host plant.
