Feeding oat supplements to pregnant ewes at pasture.

In the south-east region of Australia crossbred ewes, lambing in autumn, are often fed supplements during late pregnancy when feed is short. Lamb birth weights and subsequent survival and growth rates may be unaffected by supplements unless available green feed is less than 300 kg/ha DM (Kenney et al. 1978). This experiment reports the effects of two levels of oat supplements on ewe liveweight gain, lamb birth weight and lamb liveweight gain up until sale.
