Sixty-eight dragonfly species, belonging to 28 genera and ten families, have been reported from Bulgaria. According to their larval habitat, they are divided in two ecological complexes: rheophilous and limnophilous. Adaptations of both complexes are discussed. Zoogeographical characteristics are given at the genus and species level. Their vertical and horizontal distribution is outlined. Seven phenological groups are established.
