In a screening for nematicidal activities in cultures of Basidiomycetes, cultures of Pleurotus pulmonarius and Hericium coralloides exhibited toxic effects towards the saprophytic nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Subsequently S-coriolic acid (1), linoleic acid (2), p-anisaldehyde (3), p-anisyl alcohol (4), 1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,2-propanediol (5), and 2-hydroxy-(4'-methoxy)-propiophenone (6) were isolated from submerged cultures of P. pulmonarius. All compounds showed nematicidal activities… Expand
Nematicidal metabolites from the fungusPleurotus ferulae Lenzi
TLDR
Three nematicidal metabolities cheimonophyllon E, 5α,8α-epidioxyergosta-6,22-dien-3β-ol and 5-hydroxymethyl-furancarbaldehyde were isolated based on bioassay-guided fractionation from the extracts of the fungusP. Expand
Musanahol: a new aureonitol-related metabolite from a Chaetomium sp.
Abstract Two antibacterial furano-polyenes, (−)-musanahol ( 1 ) and 3- epi -aureonitol ( 5 ), and a fatty acid, linoleic acid ( 8 ) were isolated from the laboratory cultures of a Chaetomium sp.Expand
The potential of Citrullus colocynthis oil as a biocide against phytoparasitic nematodes
TLDR
The nematicidal properties of C. colocynthis oil are demonstrated and its potential for the formulation of new products that could be applied in the context of organic or integrated management of phytoparasitic nematodes is demonstrated. Expand
Secondary metabolites with nematicidal and antimicrobial activity from nematophagous fungi and Ascomycetes
TLDR
Screening of nematode-trapping fungi for antimicrobial and nematicidal activities gave three new antimicrobial metabolites from cultures of five Arthrobotrys strains, suggesting that the same biosynthetic pathways function in both the teleomorph and anamorph. Expand
Anti-fungal action of bioconverted eicosapentaenoic acid (bEPA) against plant pathogens
TLDR
Concentrations of bEPA corresponding to 1500, 500 and 300 μg/ml were applied to the plants and revealed promising anti-fungal effects, supporting bEPA as a potential anti-Fungal agent. Expand
Biologically Active Metabolites from the Basidiomycete Limacella illinita (Fr.) Murr.
TLDR
In the course of the search for new bioactive compounds from basidiomycetes, four new compounds were isolated from fermentations of Limacella illinita, and it is possible that compounds 1, 2 and 3 are terpenoids/ secoterpenoids, but their biosyntheses were not investigated. Expand
LIPIDS AND FATTY ACIDS OF WILD EDIBLE MUSHROOMS OF THE GENUS BOLETUS
Fifteen species of wild edible mushrooms belonging to the genus Boletus (phylum Basidiomycota) were examined by high-performance thin-layer chromatographic (HP-TLC) analysis and gasExpand
Nematicidal Activity of Holigarna caustica (Dennst.) Oken Fruit Is Due to Linoleic Acid
TLDR
The results support the use of H. caustica for the treatment of intestinal problems by traditional healers in India and constitute the first nematicidal report for this plant. Expand
In vitro nematocidal activity of commercial fatty acids and β-sitosterol against Haemonchus contortus.
TLDR
Pure molecules and their combinations have anthelmintic-like activity against the eggs and larvae of H. contortus. Expand
