}Motor vehicle rollover crashes result in complex occupant kinematics with the potential for severe injury. Five cases of fatal asphyxia in occupants suspended from their safety belt upside down after a rollover crash are presented. These fatalities accounted for 13.5% of all motor vehicle related asphyxia deaths in San Diego County over a 10-year period. This study supports previous research noting that incapacitation due to other injuries, alcohol, or obesity may be associated with fatal…

Sudden deaths from positional asphyxia
- MedicineMedicine
- 2018
This report describes one case of adult who was found positioned in a way that led to eventual asphyxiation and the current criteria for positional asphyxia are based on the obstruction of normal gas exchange caused by the body position, the impossibility to move to another position, and the exclusion of other causes of death.
Fatal accidental asphyxia
- Medicine

A female in her twenties was found dead in the so-called bridge position on a chair with wheels, trapping her in an abnormal body position, ‘the reverse jack-knife position’, and her manner of death was considered to be accidental positional asphyxia.
Unique drowning in an atypical medium: paraffin wax in the setting of a motor vehicle crash—case report and literature survey

The case presented here is that of a motor vehicle crash which resulted in drowning where no immersion of the vehicle occurred, and the drowning medium was paraffin wax, rather than water.

Three cases are described in which deaths after motor vehicle accidents occurred as a result of positional asphyxia associated with exposure to gasoline, and postmortem toxicologic investigations of such cases, which include analyses for volatile hydrocarbons, may produce additional significant information.
