A reliable method was developed for screening of bacteria isolates capable of degrading acyl-HSLs, the signal molecules in quorum-sensing-mediated processes of many Proteobacteria. The microtiter assay was based on the use of a GFP-marked Escherichia coli strain, which fluoresces upon the presence of acyl-HSLs.
