1 I n t r o d u c t i o n In new key-oriented, distributed access control systems, entities are represented by their cryptographic signature keys. Authority is delegated from key to key by issuing signed delegation certificates. The certificates form graph-like networks of delegation between the keys [1]. Access control decisions in the system are made by verifying that there exists a path of delegation all the way from the server to the client.
