The univariate Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS) test is a non–parametric statistical test designed to assess whether two samples come from the same underlying distribution. The versatility of the KS test has made it a cornerstone of statistical analysis across the scientific disciplines. However, the test proposed by Kolmogorov and Smirnov does not naturally extend to multidimensional distributions. Here, we present the fasano.franceschini.test package, an R implementation of the 2-D KS two–sample test…

A two-dimensional Kolmogorov-Smirnov test
TLDR
Three variations on the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test for multi-dimensional data sets are surveyed and it is proved that Cooke’s algorithm runs in O(n2), contrary to his claims that it runs inO(n lgn).
Introduction to Kolmogorov (1933) On the Empirical Determination of a Distribution
In 1933, A.N. Kolmogorov (1933a) published a short but landmark paper in the Italian Giornale dell’Istituto Italiano degli Attuari. He formally defined the empirical distribution function (EDF) and
Astrostatistics : Goodness-ofFit and All That !
We consider the problem of fitting a parametric model to an astronomical dataset. This occurs when fitting simple heuristic models (e.g. powerlaw relation in a bivariate scatter diagram) or complex

TimeTrial: An Interactive Application for Optimizing the Design and Analysis of Transcriptomic Time-Series Data in Circadian Biology Research
TLDR
TimeTrial is presented, a user-friendly benchmarking framework using both real and synthetic data to investigate cycle detection algorithms’ performance and improve circadian experimental design and provides guidance on the impact of sampling frequency and duration on cycling detection accuracy.

Connectome-harmonic decomposition of human brain activity reveals dynamical repertoire re-organization under LSD
TLDR
It is found that LSD alters the energy and the power of individual harmonic brain states in a frequency-selective manner, which leads to an expansion of the repertoire of active brain states, suggestive of a general re-organization of brain dynamics given the non-random increase in co-activation across frequencies.
