Familial occipitalization of the atlas with atlantalization of the axis was defined as a single congenital disease in Arabian horses following a clinical, radiologic, and morphologic study of 16 horses with congenital malformations of the occiput, atlas, and axis, and from a study of three reported cases. The constant morphologic features were interpreted as congenital atlantooccipital fusion, hypoplasia of the atlas and dens, malformation of the axis, and modification of the atlantoaxial joint…
Congenital occipitoatlantoaxial malformation in a Warmblood mare
TLDR
Occipitoatlantoaxial malformation (OAAM) was diagnosed based on radiography and computed tomography, and confirmed on post-mortem magnetic resonance imaging and pathological examination, for the first report of a case of OAAM in a Warmblood horse.

A clinical, radiological, and morphological study of a congenital occipito-atlanto-axial malformation in a 13-week-old male Saint Bernard dog that became suddenly tetraplegic at 8 weeks is described.
Occipitoatlantoaxial Malformation in an Adult Goat
TLDR
To the authors' knowledge, this case report is the second occipitoatlantoaxial malformation described in a goat and the first description in an adult goat.
Clinical evaluation of occipitoatlantoaxial malformation
TLDR
In this case report, the clinicians’ thorough and pragmatic approach to diagnostics led to an unexpected but accurate diagnosis of a progressive, untreatable and possibly heritable disease in a Warmblood mare.
Congenital occipitoatlantoaxial malformation in a Spanish purebred mare.
TLDR
A case of an occipitoatlantoaxial malformation in an adult Spanish purebred mare, which suddenly developed incoordination, hind quarters paralysis and ultimately postration, is described.
Occipitoatlantoaxial malformation with atlantoaxial subluxation in a cat
TLDR
Basilar artery compression as a result of atlantoaxial instability is suspected to have caused the behavioural changes and EEG abnormalities in this patient.
Occipital condylar dysplasia in a Jacob lamb (Ovis aries)
TLDR
A four-horned Jacob lamb that exhibited progressive congenital hindlimb ataxia and paresis, and was euthanased four weeks post-partum is described, the first reported case in European-bred Jacob sheep.
Malformación occipitoatlantoaxial congénita en una yegua pura raza española
TLDR
A case of an occipitoatlantoaxial malformation in an adult Spanish purebred mare, which suddenly developed incoordination, hind quarters paralysis and ultimately postration, is described.
