Data were collected from 15 Arkansas livestock auctions to determine factors affecting selling price. Data included how calves were sold (single or groups), sex, breed or breed type, color, muscle thickness, horn status, frame score, fill, body condition, age, health, BW, and price. Data were randomly collected on 52,401 lots consisting of 105,542 calves. Selling prices for steers ($124.20 +/- 0.07), bulls ($117.93 +/- 0.12), and heifers ($112.81 +/- 0.07) were different from each other (P <0…

Comparing the factors affecting the selling price of beef calves sold at Arkansas livestock auctions during a declining cattle inventory
ABSTRACT The objectives of this study were to determine how declining calf supplies affected the selling price of calves. Data from 12 weekly Arkansas livestock auctions were collected from January 1
Phenotypic expression and management factors affecting the selling price of feeder cattle sold at Arkansas livestock auctions
TLDR
Several management and genetic factors affected the selling price of feeder cattle, and black-white faced color sold for the highest price.
Factors associated with selling price of cattle at livestock marts.
TLDR
Beef breeds and their crosses consistently received higher prices than their dairy counterparts across all four maturity categories; increased proportion of Belgian Blue and Charolais was associated with greater prices compared with other beef breeds.
Genetic parameters for cattle price and body weight from routinely collected data at livestock auctions and commercial farms.
TLDR
The availability of routinely collected data, along with the existence of ample genetic variation for animal BW and price per animal, facilitates their inclusion in Irish dairy and beef breeding objectives to better reflect the profitability of both enterprises.
Key factors influencing the sale of bulls in livestock auctions
This research determines which factors most influence the purchase price of bulls in livestock auctions in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Southern Brazil. Hence, 760 beef bulls sold in eleven
Factors affecting the selling prices of calves in auctions in Santa Catarina State, Brazil
TLDR
Sex and different genetic groups are factors that impact the selling price of calves in the SC region and recently, female British heifers have had a greater appreciation in auctions held in SC, possibly for their reproductive performance potential of beef cows.
Benefits of Preconditioning Beef Calves Compared to the Traditional Marketing Practice
TLDR
There are price differences between the traditional marketing and board sales (preconditioning) of calves in the state of Alabama from 2012-2016, however, the net profits due to marketing strategies needs to be investigated further to demonstrate the economic benefits of preconditioning calves, especially to small producers.
Price Determinants of Bred Cows in Oklahoma Auctions
Bred cows are an input into beef production. Often producers are directly marketing bred cows as beef replacement animals. Alternatively, some producers are capitalizing on alternative marketing
Direct and maternal genetic effects for body weight and price of calves sold for veal production.
TLDR
Genetic correlation between the same trait recorded on calves from first- and second-parity dams was less than unity, but generally high and positive, suggesting that AS, BW, PR, and MV can be treated as the same traits across parities.
Factors that influence the price of cattle in livestock auctions: the case of the stockyard of Melipilla (Chile)
This study aims to weigh the influence of observable traits on live cattle prices, i.e. , the percent impact on the final price of various physical characteristics. These characteristics are those

This study investigates the underlying reasons for a producer's choice of marketing channels for stocker cattle in the United States. In addition to traditional public auctions, private sales, video
Feedlot performance of steers and bulls actively immunized against gonadotropin-releasing hormone.
TLDR
The patterns of increase in GnRH titer and decrease in serum concentrations of LH did not differ in animals receiving primary immunization alone or primary and secondary immunization, and feedlot performance and carcass quality were not affected by immunization against KLH or the GnRH-KLH conjugate.
