In this paper, we investigated the functional imaging properties of magnetic microspheres composed of magnetic core and CdTe quantum dots in the silica shell functionalized with folic acid (FA). The preparation procedure included the preparation of chitosan-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles (CS-coated Fe3O4 NPs) prepared by a one-pot solvothermal method, the reaction between carboxylic and amino groups under activation of NHS and EDC in order to obtain the CdTe-CS-coated Fe3O4 NPs, and finally the…
Functionalized Chitosan: A Quantum Dot-Based Approach for Regenerative Medicine
TLDR
It is demonstrated that chitosan-based QD hybrid nanospheres can be internalized by tumor cells and hence act as labeling agent in cell imaging by optical microscopy and the challenge of such cell imaging in the field of molecular imaging is also being discussed.
Nanoimaging: photophysical and pharmaceutical characterization of poly-lactide-co-glycolide nanoparticles engineered with quantum dots.
TLDR
The results suggest that the packaging of QDs into the polymeric matrix causes a modification of the QD optical properties: these effects must be characterized in depth and carefully considered when developing nanosystems for imaging and biological applications.
Synthesis and bio-applications of targeted magnetic-fluorescent composite nanoparticles
TLDR
Methods for the synthesis of targeted magnetic-fluorescent nanoparticles are explored, and recent applications of these nanocomposites to the detection and separation of biomolecules, fluorescent and magnetic resonance imaging, and cancer diagnosis and treatment will be summarized.
Targeted anticancer drug delivery through anthracycline antibiotic bearing functionalized quantum dots
TLDR
The developed DOX/FA-CHI-QDs showed enhanced cytotoxicity, cellular uptake and were most preferentially taken up by the cancerous cells via receptor-mediated endocytosis (RME) mechanism, meaning the QD-based formulation is capable of targeting drug delivery and imaging the delivery process.
Adsorption of Cadmium Ions from an Aqueous Solution on a Highly Stable Dopamine-Modified Magnetic Nano-Adsorbent
TLDR
Results obtained from the adsorption–desorption cycles revealed that Fe3O4@PDA exhibits ultra-high advertisersorption stability and reusability, and the adsorbents were easily separated from water under an enhanced external magnetic field after adsorbent due to the introduction of an iron-based core.
Enhanced biofilm penetration for microbial control by polyvalent phages conjugated with magnetic colloidal nanoparticle clusters (CNCs)
TLDR
The conjugation approach could extend the application of phages for microbial control by enhancing their delivery to relatively inaccessible locations within biofilms.

Preparation and Characterization of Silica-Coated Magnetic–Fluorescent Bifunctional Microspheres
TLDR
It was found that the silica coating on the surface of Fe3O4 could effectively suppress the interaction between the Fe3 O4 and the QDs under the most optimal parameters, and the emission intensity of MPQDs showed a maximum.
