We recently proposed and demonstrated a strategy for fabricating self-assembling, three-dimensional (3D) electrical networks. In this demonstration, we used millimeter scale building blocks (polyhedra) whose faces were patterned with copper connectors and devices (light-emitting diodes). One significant hurdle to implementing self-assembly in practical systems is that of miniaturizing the assemblies.
