Biomorphic cellular C/SiC-ZrC composite ceramics were fabricated from pine and oak wood precursors. Carbonaceous preforms were first prepared by wood pyrolysis and subsequently infiltrated with polyzirconobutanediol (PZC) and polycarbosilane (PCS) to form the composite ceramics. TGA/DTG and dilatometric analysis were used to study the pyrolysis of the wood precursor.
