We investigated the presence of Toxoplasma gondii infections in Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) in Finland by analyzing samples from 337 lynx that were legally hunted during the 2010–2011 season and by performing a retrospective nationwide database search of postmortem toxoplasmosis diagnoses in this species. We detected specific anti-T. gondii IgG antibodies in 290 (86.1%) of the 337 lynx. The method used was a direct agglutination test, and samples positive at the used dilution 1:40 were defined as…

Toxoplasma gondii in the faeces of wild felids from the Atlantic Forest, Brazil

TLDR
This first report of T. gondii in faeces of wild South American felids in their natural environment indicates infrequent oocyst shedding and suggests a role of acquired immunity in limiting re-excretion as in domestic cats.

Toxoplasma gondii seroprevalence in wild boars (Sus scrofa) in Sweden and evaluation of ELISA test performance

TLDR
Toxoplasma gondii is a zoonotic protozoan parasite, infecting a wide range of warm-blooded animals, and its seroprevalence in Swedish wild boars is reported, suggesting a declining trend.

New Insights into Gastrointestinal and Pulmonary Parasitofauna of Wild Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) in the Harz Mountains of Germany

TLDR
The protozoan and helminth fauna of free-ranging Eurasian lynx of the Harz population with emphasis on zoonotic parasites is investigated, providing insights in the occurrence of zooanthroponotically relevant metazoan and protozoans species in free- ranging lynx.

Toxoplasma gondii seroprevalence in veterinarians in Finland: Older age, living in the countryside, tasting beef during cooking and not doing small animal practice associated with seropositivity

TLDR
A causal diagram approach was used to address the complexity of the life cycle of the parasite and its numerous possible transmission routes, and a multivariable binomial logistic regression model was built to identify risk factors that are particularly relevant for veterinarians.

ESTIMATING TOXOPLASMA GONDII EXPOSURE IN ARCTIC FOXES (VULPES LAGOPUS) WHILE NAVIGATING THE IMPERFECT WORLD OF WILDLIFE SEROLOGY

TLDR
A new geographic record of T. gondii exposure in arctic foxes is recorded and an emerging application of ecologic modeling techniques to account for imperfect performance of diagnostic tests in wildlife species is demonstrated.

Toxoplasma gondii seroprevalence varies by cat breed Must , Kart 2017-09-08

TLDR
It was showed that T. gondii seroprevalence varies by cat breed and identified being of certain breeds, older age, and receiving raw meat as risk factors for seropositivity.

Toxoplasma gondii seroprevalence varies by cat breed

TLDR
It was showed that T. gondii seroprevalence varies by cat breed and identified being of certain breeds, older age, and receiving raw meat as risk factors for seropositivity.

Estimating Toxoplasma gondii exposure in arctic foxes while navigating the imperfect world of wildlife serology

TLDR
Exposure of arctic foxes to T. gondii in the Karrak Lake goose colony, Queen Maud Gulf Migratory Bird Sanctuary, Nunavut, Canada, and following an occupancy-modeling framework, replicated antibody analyses on serum samples by direct agglutination test (DAT), indirect fluorescent antibody test (I...

Serological Survey of Toxoplasma gondii Infection in Free-ranging Eurasian Lynx (Lynx lynx) from Sweden

TLDR
Antibody prevalence was significantly lower in Lynx originating from the northern parts of Sweden than in lynx from the more southern regions that are more densely populated by humans, and age-related differences also were found.

NATURAL TOXOPLASMA GONDII INFECTIONS IN EUROPEAN BROWN HARES AND MOUNTAIN HARES IN FINLAND: PROPORTIONAL MORTALITY RATE, ANTIBODY PREVALENCE, AND GENETIC CHARACTERIZATION

TLDR
Direct genetic characterization of the causative agent was performed on DNA extracted from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue of the hares with fatal toxoplasmosis, and all the cases were caused by T. gondii genotype II; the size of the PCR product at the seventh marker (M48) varied (213–229 base pairs).

Feline toxoplasmosis in Finland

TLDR
The results indicate that cats in Finland commonly encounter T. gondii and contribute to the environmental oocyst burden, while the endemic genotype II can also prove fatal to the parasite’s definitive host.

TOXOPLASMA GONDII ANTIBODIES IN EXOTIC WILD FELIDS FROM BRAZILIAN ZOOS

TLDR
Serum samples from 37 captive exotic felids in 12 zoos from six Brazilian states were assayed for antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii by the modified agglutination test using formalin-fixed whole tachyzoites, the first serologic analysis for T. Gondii infection in exotic wild felids from Brazilian zoos.

An outbreak of toxoplasmosis in pregnant women in northern Québec.

TLDR
Observations have contributed to the development of guidelines for the prevention of toxoplasmosis in seronegative pregnant women in this arctic region.
