An antifungal antibiotic, FR207944, was isolated from the culture broth of a fungal strain Chaetomium sp. no. 217. FR207944 is a triterpene glucoside with antifungal activity against Aspergillus fumigatus and Candida albicans. Specifically, FR207944 exhibits in vitro and in vivo antifungal activity against A. fumigatus. The effects of FR207944 on the morphology of A. fumigatus were shown to be similar to those of FR901379, a known 1,3-β-glucan synthase inhibitor. The MECs of FR207944 against A…
Detection of the antibacterial effect of Chaetomium cochliodes Palliser CCM F-232 based on agar plugs and unprocessed fungal substances from cultivation media
Abstract There is an increasing demand for novel antibiotics that are highly effective, but simultaneously reveal minimal side effects. Currently, major sources of antibiotics are found among

TLDR
Determination of the relative stereochemistry of fuscoatroside was made formally by comparison with WF11605 (16-Oxo-FR207944) and confirmed the stereochemistry on the basis of single crystal X-ray analysis.
Anti-rheumatoid Activity of Secondary Metabolites Produced by Endophytic Chaetomium globosum
TLDR
The present study revealed that the methanol extract of endophytic fungus C. globosum recovered from maidenhair fern has an inhibitory effect on inflammation, histopathology and morphological features of rheumatoid arthritis in an AIA rat model.
Production of extracellular proteins, cellulases and antifungal metabolites by Chaetomium globosum Kunze ex. Fr.
TLDR
Chaetomium globosum isolates tested for antibiotic production were found to produce the antibiotic Chaetoglobosin A in the culture filtrate and appeared blue colour under UV spectrum with a wavelength of 250 nm.
EVALUATION OF STRUCTURAL AND BIOCHEMIC AL ALTERATIONS IN ASPERGILLUS TERREUS BY THE ACTION OF ANTIFUNGAL ANTIBIOTIC COMPOUND FROM STREPTOMYCES SP. JF714876
TLDR
Antifungal treated Aspergillus terreus showed changes in its biochemical content such as protein, carbohydrates, pe roxidase, catalase and amylase as c ompared to untreated.
Fungal endophytes from leaves of Avicennia marina growing in semi‐arid environment as a promising source for bioactive compounds
TLDR
Findings confirmed that new endophytic fungal strains derived from A. marina thrive in harsh ecosystem produce bioactive metabolites which can be recommended as a novel source for drug discovery.
Antifungal Agents That Target Fungal Cell Wall Components : A Review
TLDR
The fungal cell wall represents an exclusive structure that confers mechanical strength and osmotic resistance to fungal cells that is the predominant target for therapeutic applications and developments of antifungals.
Enzyme profiles and genotyping of Chaetomium globosum isolates from various substrates
TLDR
SGRP-PCR is a rapid and valuable tool for assessment and characterization of genetic diversity of Chaetomium globosum, which suggests the use of this technique for identification of different fungal isolates.

TLDR
It is shown that FR901469 inhibited the activity of 1,3-beta-glucan synthase from Candida albicans with an IC50 value of 0.05 microg/ml, and displayed greater inhibitory activity than other 1, 3- beta-gluca synthase inhibitors such as, WF11899A, echinocandin B, aculeacin A, and papulacandin A.
Arundifungin, a novel antifungal compound produced by fungi: biological activity and taxonomy of the producing organisms
TLDR
A novel acidic steroid, named arundifungin, was purified from a fungal extract obtained from a liquid culture of Arthrinium arundinis collected in Costa Rica, and its antifungal spectrum was comparable to those of echinocandins and papulacandins, preferentially inhibiting the growth of Candida and Aspergillus strains, with very poor activity against Cryptococcus.
