FPGA-based reconfigurable computer systems

Abstract

The paper covers design principles and creation methods of several reconfigurable computer systems based on FPGAs of the Xilinx Virtex family. A method of structural procedural organization of computations in reconfigurable computer systems and its practical realization for their programming are considered. There are given technical parameters and design features of several computer systems based on Xilinx Virtex-6 and Virtex-7 FPGAs. The distinctive feature of these systems is a high real performance and low power consumption, high-speed interfaces, and practically linear growth of the performance when hardware resource is expanding. The use of an application development system software suit for reconfigurable computer systems is viewed. Values of real performance for various applications are given.
