Fifteen species of the endemic Antillean satyrid genus Calisto are known from Hispaniola (Munroe, 1950; Riley, 1975; Schwartz, 1983a). Among these only two (grannus Bates, areas Bates) have two unhw (under hindwing) ocelli not in series with other ocelli or white dots or distinctive unhw pale pattern. Both these species are known only from the Cordillera Central in the Republica Dominicans.
