First record of Ficopomatus uschakovi (Pillai, 1960) Serpulidae, (Polychaeta: Annelida) for the Western Atlantic. Specimes of F. uschakovi (Pillai, 1960) were collected in the tidal creek Sossego (7°08’39’’S 34°53’46’’W), Joao Pessoa, Paraiba, Brazil. The species forms conglomerates of calcareous tubes on dead trunks of mangroves semi-submerged in the tidal creek, the margins of which are covered by a rich mangrove vegetation. This is the first Record of the species for the Western Atlantic.

First record of the polychaete Ficopomatus uschakovi (Pillai, 1960) (Annelida, Serpulidae) in the Colombian Caribbean, South America
TLDR
Ficopomatus uschakovi is found to be more abundant in regions of the bay that exhibit the lowest salinity, giving the species a continuous distribution across the northern coast of South America. Expand
Do Morphological Similarities and human-induced dispersal explain the non-native occurrence of Serpulidae (Annelida) in Southwest Atlantic? Taxonomic detailing is the key
TLDR
Three new records of serpulid species to the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil are reported, and the misidentification of Spirobranchus tetraceros is discussed. Expand
First record in the Tropical Eastern Pacific of the exotic species Ficopomatus uschakovi (Polychaeta, Serpulidae)
TLDR
It is recommended that an exhaustive study be carried out in the coastal lagoons of Chiapas to evaluate the real distribution and the effects of this invasive species on the ecosystem. Expand
First record and establishment of Branchiomma coheni (Polychaeta: Sabellidae) in the Atlantic Ocean and review of non-indigenous species of the genus.
TLDR
A worldwide update of the records of this species and a list of valid species of the genus Branchiomma with notes on introduced populations are provided, as well as recommendations for accurate identification and sampling. Expand
The fouling serpulids (Polychaeta: Serpulidae) from United States coastal waters: an overview
Serpulids are an important component of fouling communities. This paper provides an overview of the serpulid species found in North America, as part of a broader study of fouling invertebratesExpand
New records of sabellids and serpulids (Polychaeta: Sabellidae, Serpulidae) from the Tropical Eastern Pacific.
TLDR
One sabellid, Branchiomma bairdi, is an exotic/invasive species in Oaxaca, Sinaloa and Baja California Sur, while four species of serpulids are exotic and/or cryptogenic species: Ficopomatus uschakovi, Hydroides dirampha, H. elegans and H. sanctaecrucis, and Hydroides cf. Expand
Polychaetes from red mangrove (Rhizophora mangle) and their relationship with the water conditions in the Gulf of Urabá, Colombian Caribbean
TLDR
It is found that the environmental variables that best explain polychaetes community segregation are the dissolved oxygen and electrical conductivity; temperature seems to have not a significant effect. Expand

Polychaetes play a significant role in benthic communities’ ecology; they dominate the infauna, recycle nutrients from the water column and are commonly used as biological indicators. Along the GulfExpand
Cryptic sympatric species across the Australian range of the global estuarine invader Ficopomatus enigmaticus (Fauvel, 1923) (Serpulidae, Annelida)
TLDR
Two common (and closely related) groups were present across Australia and were often found together in the same aggregations, and a third group was only found in southeast Australia and was morphologically similar to F. uschakovi (Pillai, 1960), a species previously reported from tropical areas.
