We present the first results of our analyses of selected RR Lyrae stars for which data have been obtained by the Kepler Mission. As expected, we find a significant fraction of the RRab stars to show the Blazhko effect, a still unexplained phenomenon that manifests itself as periodic amplitude and phase modulations of the light curve, on timescales of typically tens to hundreds of days. The long time span of the Kepler Mission of 3.5 yr and the unprecedentedly high precision of its data provide… Expand

Flavours of variability: 29 RR Lyrae stars observed with Kepler
We present our analysis of Kepler observations of 29 RR Lyrae stars, based on 138 d of observation. We report precise pulsation periods for all stars. Nine of these stars had incorrect or unknownExpand
RR Lyrae Stars as Seen by the Kepler Space Telescope
The unprecedented photometric precision along with the quasi-continuous sampling provided by the Kepler space telescope revealed new and unpredicted phenomena that reformed and invigorated RR LyraeExpand
The space photometry revolution and our understanding of RR Lyrae stars
The study of RR Lyrae stars has recently been invigorated thanks to the long, uninterrupted, ultra-precise time series data provided by the Kepler and CoRoT space telescopes. We give a brief overviewExpand
Recent photometric space missions, such as CoRoT and Kepler, revealed that many RR Lyrae stars pulsate?beyond their main radial pulsation mode?in low-amplitude modes. Space data seem to indicate aExpand
Analysis of a selected sample of RR Lyrae stars in LMC from OGLE III
A systematic study of RR Lyrae stars is performed based on a selected sample of 655 objects in the Large Magellanic Cloud with observation of long span and numerous measurements by the OpticalExpand
On the Blazhko Effect in RR Lyrae Stars
The Blazhko effect is a long-term, generally irregular modulation of the light curves that occurs in a sizeable number of RR Lyrae stars. The physical origin of the effect has been a puzzle everExpand
Revisiting CoRoT RR Lyrae stars: detection of period doubling and temporal variation of additional frequencies
Context. High-precision, space-based photometric missions like CoRoT and Kepler have revealed new and surprising phenomena in classical variable stars. Such discoveries were the period doubling in RRExpand
In order to benefit from the four year unprecedented precision of the Kepler data, we extracted light curves from the pixel photometric data of the Kepler space telescope for 15 Blazhko RR LyraeExpand
Metal Abundances, Radial Velocities, and Other Physical Characteristics for the RR Lyrae Stars in The Kepler Field
Spectroscopic iron-to-hydrogen ratios, radial velocities, atmospheric parameters, and new photometric analyses are presented for 41 RR Lyrae stars (and one probable high-amplitude δ Sct star) locatedExpand
Kepler photometry of RRc stars: peculiar double-mode pulsations and period doubling
We present the analysis of four first overtone RR Lyrae stars observed with the Kepler space telescope, based on data obtained over nearly 2.5yr. All four stars are found to be multiperiodic. TheExpand

Observational constraints on the magnetic field of RR Lyrae stars
Context. A high percentage of the astrophysically important RR Lyrae stars show a periodic amplitude and/or phase modulation of their pulsation cycles. More than a century after its discovery, thisExpand
RR Lyrae Variables in the Globular Cluster M55. The First Evidence for Nonradial Pulsations in RR Lyrae Stars
We present the results of a photometric study of RR Lyrae variables in the field of the globular cluster M55. We have discovered nine new RR Lyrae stars, increasing the number of known RR LyraeExpand
The Blazhko effect of RR lyrae in 2003-2004
Aims. Extensive photometry of RR Lyr was obtained over a 421-day interval in 2003-2004, covering more than 10 Blazhko cycles in a multisite campaign. The length and density of this data set allow forExpand
An extensive photometric study of the Blazhko RR Lyrae star MW Lyr – II. Changes in the physical parameters★
The analysis of the multicolour photometric observations of MW Lyr, a large modulation amplitude Blazhko variable, shows for the first time how the mean global physical parameters vary during theExpand
Double mode RR Lyrae stars in Omega Centauri
Aims. The aim of this work is to search for double mode pulsators among RR Lyr variables of globular cluster ω Cen. Methods. We conducted a systematic frequency analysis of CASE photometry of ω CenExpand
The Konkoly Blazhko Survey: is light-curve modulation a common property of RRab stars?
A systematic survey to establish the true incidence rate of Blazhko modulation among short-period, fundamental-mode, Galactic field RR Lyrae stars has been carried out. The Konkoly Blazhko SurveyExpand
No evidence of a strong magnetic field in the Blazhko star RR Lyrae
In this paper we report a new series of high-precision (median $\sigma_{\rm B}\sim 80$ G) longitudinal magnetic field measurements of RR Lyrae, the brightest Blazhko star, obtained with the MuSiCoSExpand
