FACTORS INFLUENCING PELLET QUALITY
@inproceedings{Behnke2013FACTORSIP, title={FACTORS INFLUENCING PELLET QUALITY}, author={Keith C. Behnke}, year={2013} }
In terms of pellet mill operations, the conditioning process has greater influence on pellet quality than does die specification. A great deal of attention must be paid to steam quantity and control, moisture content, retention time and mixing action within the conditioner. In general, most feed manufacturers have not optimized the conditioning process but try to solve pellet quality issues using a thicker die. While this often results in improved quality, we often see an unacceptable drop in…

Possibilities for preservation of coarse particles in pelleting process to improve feed quality characteristics
- Materials Science, MedicineJournal of animal physiology and animal nutrition
- 2017
The results of optimization process showed that to achieve the highest possible quantity of coarse particles in the pellets, and to produce pellets of satisfactory quality, with the lowest possible energy consumption of the pellet press, the coarsest grinding on hammer mill, the largest RDG and the highest MC should be applied.
Effects of Pellet Die Heat and Pressure on Pellet Quality and Broiler Lysine Utilization
- Chemistry
- 2012
The objective of this study was to identify feed manufacture techniques that alter lysine availability as indicated by broiler performance in the finishing phase, diet furfural content, and true…
Effects of conditioning temperature and pellet mill die speed on pellet quality and relative stabilities of phytase and xylanase
- Materials Science, MedicineTranslational animal science
- 2021
The results of this trial indicate that die speed should be taken into consideration when evaluating enzyme stability of both phytase and xylanase as pellet mill models may be operating at different speeds.
Influence of apple pomace inclusion on the process of animal feed pelleting
- Mathematics, MedicineFood additives & contaminants. Part A, Chemistry, analysis, control, exposure & risk assessment
- 2017
Adding dried AP to feed model mixtures significantly improved the quality of the pellets and led to an improvement of pellet quality parameters: pellet durability index, hardness and proportion of fines in pellets.
EFFECT OF FISHMEAL REPLACEMENT WITH CHEESE PROCESSING BY-PRODUCT MEAL ON FISH PELLET QUALITY USING RING DIE PELLETING MACHINE
- Chemistry
- 2014
This study was performed to use the cheese processing by-product meal (CPBM) as an alternative source of protein instead of the expensive herring fish meal (HFM) in the practical diet of Nile tilapia…
INFLUENCE OF FEED PARTICLE SIZE ON CHICKEN BROILERS PERFORMANCE
- 2018
It is known that feed texture and particle size could influence feed conversion and other productive parameters in non-ruminant animals and especially in those with high growing velocity, such as…
The impact of feed treatment on the performance of broilers : A review
- 2017
Commonly used treatments of poultry feed, such as pelleting, expanding or extrusion increase the physical density of the feed and lead to increased feed intake, reduced time spent feeding, improved…
INVESTIGATION OF THE POSSIBILITES FOR REDUCTION OF THE FINEST PARTICLES DURING THE PRODUCTION OF PELLETED PIG FEED
- Materials Science
The aim of this experiment was to investigate the possibility to decrease the amount of fine particles in the pellets by coarser grinding of corn before pelleting for the benefit of pigs’ digestive…
FACTORS AFFECTING THE FLOATING AQUATIC FEED PELLETS QUALITY
- Materials ScienceMisr Journal of Agricultural Engineering
- 2018
Production of high quality floating aquatic feed has in recent years accounted more than 65% of the market needs of fish feed. Most of fish feed factories have tended to develop their production…

Effects of particle size and pelleting on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, and stomach morphology in finishing pigs.
- Biology, MedicineJournal of animal science
- 1995
Considering milling energy, growth performance, stomach morphology, nutrient digestibility, and nutrient excretion, a particle size of 600 microns, or slightly less, is an acceptable compromise for corn in both meal and pelleted diets for finishing pigs.
Viscoelasticity of zein-starch doughs
- Chemistry
- 1992
Corn flour, when hydrated, does not form a viscoelastic dough as does wheat flour. Yet when mixtures of zein and corn starch were blended into a composite flour and mixed in a farinograph at 25, 30,…
