ABSTRACT There is no comprehensive meta-analysis of randomised trials examining the effects of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and no systematic review at all of the effects of EMDR on other mental health problems. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of 76 trials. Most trials examined the effects on PTSD (62%). The effect size of EMDR compared to control conditions was g = 0.93 (95% CI: 0.67–.18), with high…
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing for depression: a systematic review and meta-analysis
TLDR
Review findings suggest that EMDR may be considered an effective treatment for improving symptoms of depression, with effects comparable to other active treatments, however, findings need to be interpreted in light of the limited number of studies and their quality.
The Effectiveness of Eye Movement Desensitization for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder in Indonesia: A Randomized Controlled Trial
TLDR
Within a clinical sample of PTSD patients in Indonesia, both EMD and retrieval-only was associated with reductions in symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and depression, and improvements in quality of life, although EMs did not add to the efficacy of the treatments.
EMDR as Treatment Option for Conditions Other Than PTSD: A Systematic Review
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The technique is known to facilitate reprocessing of maladaptive memories that are
An evaluation of eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy delivered remotely during the Covid–19 pandemic
TLDR
EMDR delivered via the internet can be an effective treatment for clients experiencing mental health issues and Statistically significant and clinically meaningful reductions were found in all four-psychometrics used both in adult and children and young people populations.
Implementing an Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing Treatment-Program for Women With Posttraumatic Stress Disorder After Childbirth
TLDR
Implementing an EMDR-treatment program for women with PTSD after childbirth in the setting of an academic hospital is feasible and effective, and outcomes are promising, as they were achieved in women with relatively high levels of psychiatric comorbidity and high rates of previous mental health treatment.
The efficacy of eye movement desensitization and reprocessing in reducing anxiety among female university students with primary dysmenorrhea
TLDR
EMDR intervention did not have a statistically and clinically significant effect on State-Trait Anxiety of patients with dysmenorrhea, and the efficacy of EMDR in treating dys menorrhea-related anxiety remains inconclusive.
EMDR therapy for misophonia: a pilot study of case series
TLDR
Preliminary results suggest that EMDR therapy focused on emotionally disturbing misophonia-related memories can reduce misophonian symptoms.
Cognitive therapy and EMDR for reducing psychopathology in bereaved people after the MH17 plane crash: Findings from a randomized controlled trial.
TLDR
Cognitive Therapy combined with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) might be an effective treatment for bereaved people with PCBD, depression, and/or PTSD symptoms after sudden/violent loss.

Results were similar when studies using therapists not trained by the EMDR Institute were excluded or when studies were grouped by treatment population (PTSD, traumatic memories, other anxiety disorders, or normal).
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Versus Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Adult Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
TLDR
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing may be more suitable than CBT for PTSD patients with prominent intrusion or arousal symptoms, but the limited number and poor quality of the original studies included suggest caution when drawing final conclusions.
Efficacy of Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing for Patients with Posttraumatic-Stress Disorder: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
TLDR
It is confirmed that EMDR therapy significantly reduces the symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, and subjective distress in PTSD patients.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EDMR) Treatment for Combat-Related Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
TLDR
Compared with the other conditions, significant treatment effects in the EMDR condition were obtained at posttreatment on a number of self-report, psychometric, and standardized interview measures, and these effects were generally maintained at 3-month follow-up.
Efficacy of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing in Children and Adolescent with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
TLDR
EMDR therapy was superior to waitlist/placebo conditions and showed comparable efficacy to cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) in reducing post-traumatic and anxiety symptoms.

Summary We suggest that trauma contributes to the development and persistence of conduct problems, and should be addressed. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) was selected as a

TLDR
REM, desensitization, the new therapeutic approach to PTSD is a highly effective strategy, even more than EMDR, the standard treatment, in most of the evaluated subjects, with special emphasis on sleep symptoms, and also in the management of intrusive thoughts.
